New York improviser: Richie Moriarty

Richie Moriarty

I’m an actor, writer, and improviser, living in New York City. You can see me in the first season of Tina Fey’s “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” on Netflix and season two of “The Mysteries of Laura” on NBC in September 2015. In May 2016 I will appear alongside Michael Caine in the Zach Braff directed feature film “Going In Style.“ I currently perform with Simply Unemployable Live at The PIT in NYC and at Union Hall in Brooklyn. I also perform with People Improvising and Chica GoGo at The PIT and with Story Pirates. I’m also currently in the Advanced Study Program at UCB theater in NYC. I’m a graduate of Boston College, originally from Rockville, Maryland. From 2006-2010 I was on the mainstage cast at Improv Asylum in Boston’s North End performing sketch and improv six times a week. I have performed in over 1,000 shows in front of audiences in Boston, Chicago and New York.

Simply Unemployable, the group that I started with Matt Catanzano, launched in the spring of 2012 with our webseries, Employment Through Craigslist (ETC). In 2012, Simply Unemployable signed as a Channel Partner at Broadway Video’s YouTube Channel, Above Average. We have since produced and starred in two different webseries for Above Average: Portrait STUdio and Congressional Hearings. Simply Unemployable sketches have been featured on The A.V. Club, Entertainment Weekly, Buzzfeed, Digg, College Humor, Splitsider, NPR, Backstage Magazine, Mashable, and Huffington Post among others.
