New York improviser: Ren McDermott

Ren McDermott

Ren McDermott came to New York from Manhattan Beach, California, via Williamstown, Massachusetts, where she went to college. She received her BA in English from Williams College. While there, she also dabbled in theatre, improv and sketch. After graduating, Ren became a 3rd grade teacher in the South Bronx, through Teach for America, and started taking improv classes at UCB in 2008. She has studied under such greats as Shannon O’Neill, Lennon Parham, Eliza Skinner, Ari Voukydis, and Zach Woods. Ren can currently be seen performing around the city with lady-prov group, Topanga, and innovative musical improv group, Zamboni! She dreams that casioprov will one day rule the world.

One tip: Don't make her use her teacher voice!
