New York improviser: Justin Cassel

Justin Cassel

Justin Cassel is an actor, comedian, writer, songwriter, performer and homo-sapien living in Astoria, New York. He has been formally studying and performing improv comedy since 2011 and is a founding member of Salt City Improv Theatre’s short form house team “Pork Pie Hat”. Justin has worked under the wings of many talented teachers including Jeff Kinsler, Fran Gillespie, Nicole Drespel, Gavin Spieler, Kate Riley, Lydia Hensler and Andrew Yurman-Glaser. Justin continues to perfect his craft and performs stand-up and improv at various venues throughout the New York City.

As a native Marylander, Justin enjoys Old Bay Seasoning, Crabs and “goin’ dahn de’ oshen hon” in the summertime. A few highlights from his life include performing and writing portions of “Shenanigans” a collection of home videos, improvised skits and sketches from his high school career, winning an achievement award for “outstanding dancer” for his Michael Jackson solo dance at his high school powder puff football game and owning a russian dwarf hamster. Other momentous occasions include winning a Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, finishing fourth or fifth runner up in the 2007 Mr. RPI competition and successfully sharting at work in the winter of 2010.

Justin is co-host and producer of “Walking the Earth Podcast” the podcast which explores the travel lifestyle.
